New year - New Rock Village team

Hello everyone!!

The Sustainable Technologies Studio course at the Aalto University has once again kicked off! We have a new Helsinki-based team in place to help realize the Rock Village project in Lebanon. A presentation of our team-members will follow shortly.

Last week we had our first real meeting, and it got us going quite well. Since our team consists mainly of engineers, we chose to focus on the engineering and technical aspects of the project. Preliminary, we decided to work on the energy supply for the village. We discussed different energy solutions, and decided to look more closely into energy production from biogas. Biogas can be produced from, e.g. wastewater, faeces, vegetation waste, and household waste. We also discussed the possibility to implement some kind of waste management to the area surrounding the Rock Village.

So, we have found a place to start our contribution to the Rock Village project! Follow our work during the course on this blog, and see how we manage to deal with the challenges that we will face during the process.
